Barcelona

In May 2015, I visited Barcelona on a two country Eurotrip with my dad and absolutely loved it (check out the Amsterdam page for information on the other country we visited on this trip). The city is objectively beautiful, the weather in late May was phenomenal, the food was amazing, and below, you can see the video of this trip, including some of my favorite hotels, sights, and restaurants within the city.

Renaissance Barcelona Fira hotel

The redemption: Renaissance properties are owned by Marriott so we redeemed 90,000 Marriott points for the first three nights and paid cash for the fourth. We accrued these points by a combination of opening the Marriott Rewards Visa card, transferring points from the Chase Sapphire Preferred, and actual stays. The summer prior to this trip I spent 86 nights at a Marriott during an internship and accumulated nearly 200,000 points as a result, which almost entirely funded this trip. It also gave me platinum status, which this Renaissance property honored by upgrading us to the highest floor of the hotel and giving us complimentary breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The breakfast was fantastic and I recommend you get it even if it's not included. Also, don't miss the amazing rooftop pool and bar.
